CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - A memorial service is being held in Charleston for a South Carolina woman who had been missing for four months before her remains were found.
The Post and Courier of Charleston reports that a memorial for 28-year-old Kate Waring is being held Saturday in historic St. Michael's Episcopal Church on Charleston's Four Corners of Law.
Waring's June disappearance prompted searches, the launch of an informational Web site and the offer of a $25,000 reward.
Her remains were found last weekend in a wooded area on Wadmalaw Island west of Charleston.
Authorities are investigating. Two people have been charged with forging Waring's name on a $4,500 check from a bank account she owned with a relative.
