FLORENCE, SC – Senior middle blocker Kendall Eayrs pounded out 13 kills and hit for a .462 percentage to lead Lander University to a three-game sweep (25-23, 25-20, 25-23) of Francis Marion University, Saturday afternoon (Sept. 26) in Peach Belt Conference volleyball action.
Francis Marion drops to 6-7 overall and 1-3 in the Peach Belt, while Lander improves to 11-4 and 4-2.
Sophomore Ashlee Crook led Francis Marion with 14 kills, while sophomore Ashlyn Underhill added seven kills and nine digs. Setters Hallie Legg (17) and Jess O’Leary (16) combined for 33 assists, and junior libero Kelsie Deaton dug up 19 balls.
Following Eayrs, junior Melissa McCracken added 12 kills for the Bearcats. Junior setter Candace LaRocca handed out 39 assists and freshman libero Chelsey Corgan recorded 20 digs.
The Patriots will entertain local PBC-rival UNC Pembroke on Wednesday at 7 p.m. for their annual Sea of Red match. Lander plays at Southern Wesleyan University on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
