LUMBERTON, NC (WMBF) - The North Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a hit-and-run accident that has left one man dead.
Officials say the accident happened Sunday around 11:45 p.m. as a 20-year-old man was hit while walking northbound on N.C. 72. The driver of the vehicle, highway patrol says, was traveling eastbound when they struck the man and kept driving.
Highway patrol officials identified the victim as Clayton Adam Carter, of Lumberton.
Anyone with information on Sunday's hit-and-run is asked to call the North Carolina Highway Patrol immediately.
The case remains under investigation.
