Officers with the Myrtle Beach Police Department were dispatched to the K-Mart late Thursday afternoon regarding a shoplifting complaint. When they arrived, officers found Landon Bowers, 20, of Warrenton, VA, who admitted to stealing a bottle of Dr. Pepper, Jack Links beef jerky and glue because he was hungry.
The total value of the items, according to K-Mart employees, sat at $8.19.
After running a background check on Bowers, police learned the 20-year-old was wanted by the Culpeper County Sheriff's Office in Virginia for failure to appear on a hit and run charge and for escaping while in custody of the sheriff's office.
Bowers, reports show, was also wanted in Prince William County for felony shoplifting.
Myrtle Beach police say they have since charged Bowers as a fugitive from justice.
