Documentary about NC breweries set for premiere

Associated Press - May 21, 2009 4:15 AM ET

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) - A movie about North Carolina's breweries is opening this week.

The Asheville Citizen-Times reports that seven people took along video cameras when they visited 27 breweries in nine days last year. The film, "Beer Y'all" will have its first public showing Thursday at Asheville Pizza and Brewing.

The seven rented a van, then visited breweries from Sylva in the mountains to Manteo along the coast. Editor Curt Arledge says they ended up with 80 hours of footage.

He says the amateur filmmakers took nine months to make the 75-minute movie, along with a 20-minute companion piece.

By the way: the guys say they always had a designated driver.
