The need to know something before everyone else is the exact spark that brought WMBF News Anchor Danner Evans to broadcasting. Danner joins the WMBF Team from WSET-TV in Lynchburg/Roanoke, VA where she served as the morning and midday anchor at ABC 13 News.
You may have noticed Danner doesn't have an accent. That comes from growing up in Wichita, KS. A graduate of the University of Kansas, Danner earned her degree in journalism and entered the broadcasting business through the assignment desk at KAKE-TV in Wichita. From there, Danner had her first taste of anchoring and reporting at KPLC-TV in Lake Charles, LA.
"Starting with a clean slate every day" is what Danner enjoys the most about her job on a day-to-day basis. Every newscast is different! She's been on the frontlines of some major headlines out covering the Virginia Tech shootings and the Horry County Wildfire here in the Grand Strand. But one of her favorite assignments was learning to dance beach style for "Shagging with the Stars" in 2008.
Outside of the WMBF Newsroom, Danner enjoys catching up with her family that span across the U.S. - from Kansas, Colorado and Missouri to Virginia. She has a new son, Luke, so family seems to come to the beach to visit her…a lot. If there's free time you'll find her running, fishing with her husband or checking out college basketball (go Jayhawks).
