Search time ticking for mother of missing teen

Posted: Updated:

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - She's been missing for almost two months, and now, time is ticking for the mother of 17-year-old Brittanee Drexel before she temporarily abandons the search for her missing daughter to return home for work.

The Rochester, NY teen disappeared from Myrtle Beach on April 25 while vacationing with friends in Myrtle Beach.  The Myrtle Beach Police Department says the teen was last seen leaving the Bluewater Hotel, located off of Ocean Boulevard in downtown Myrtle Beach.

Dawn Drexel, the mother of Brittanee, says she is flying back to the beach until the end of the month after "tying up loose ends" with police and family in New York.  Dawn has been searching the South Carolina coast with local authorities since the disappearance of her daughter.

At the end of the month, Dawn is expected to return to work in New York, but she's not exactly leaving all hope behind.  Al and Carol Wagner, Brittanee's grandparents, say they will remain in Myrtle Beach until they find the teen, even if it means getting a South Carolina driver's license.
