NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – World Golf Hall of Famer Greg Norman already has a restaurant and golf course he designed in North Myrtle Beach. Next up: an academy.

The Shark was in town Thursday to officially announce the Greg Norman Championship Golf Academy which will be located at Barefoot Resort.

Norman met with fans, did an interview with The Golf Channel and talked about Myrtle Beach resident Dustin Johnson and the controversial finish to the PGA Championship where Johnson was given a two-stroke penalty for grounding his club in a bunker.

"They made the right ruling, there's no question about it," said Norman. "But I feel for Dustin."

Norman said perhaps marshals should have done a better job clearing the area for Johnson so he could better recognize it as a bunker. He called the former Coastal Carolina All-American after the tournament to offer some encouraging words.

"I don't care if you're the president of the United States or Dustin Johnson, it's nice to have that support from other golfers," said Norman.

Norman, a two-time British Open champion, is impressed with Johnson's game. He pointed out his impressive club-head speed, but moreover his personality off the course.

"I like Dustin," said Norman. "I think he's great for the game of golf; he's got a great demeanor about him, his attitude is fantastic."

The Greg Norman Championship Golf Academy is scheduled to open at Barefoot Resort in 2011. It will be the headquarters for all Norman's other golf academies.
