Online school gives students new way to earn high school diploma

DARLINGTON, SC (WMBF) - Students looking to break the mold of the traditional high school experience are turning to their computers for a new, tech-savvy way to earn their high school diploma.

Provost Academy South Carolina is now enrolling students in its state-authorized public online school program, which comes free of charge to South Carolina residents.

Students and teachers interested in the opportunity of earning an online degree are invited to explore the program during an Open House on Tuesday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Darlington Library. Officials will be on hand to meet with parents and students to discuss education opportunities, experience the virtual classroom and enroll for the fall semester.

In the program, students work towards their regular pubic high school diploma as they would in a traditional school. The program gives students the opportunity to earn their diplomas in a convenient area through computer-based educational programs.
