Hackers target Facebook accounts

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - With the growing popularity of social networking websites like Facebook, computer hackers have found another way to try to gain access to users' accounts.

Hackers are sending emails to Facebook users telling them the website has reset the users password and clicking on an attachment will allow the user to retrieve the new password. The attachment, however, is a password stealing program that installs on the user's computer once clicked.

The password stealer can potentially access any username and password combination utilized on that computer.

To avoid becoming a victim, do not open the attachment and delete the email. Also, install or update an anti-virus application on your computer.
