MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - A Myrtle Beach woman tells WMBF News that after seeing a story on TV about an email scam, she realized she was one of several people whose email accounts were hacked into in attempt to steal money.
"It gave my name and a fake address in the United Kingdom to send the money too so I could get home" said Kaye Estridge. Estridge tells WMBF News she has never been to the United Kingdom and that she doesn't know why she was targeted in the email scheme.
"It's makes you angry because you shouldn't have to go through all that, email it should be a pleasure thing" said Estridge.
Yahoo! Email offers online suggestions to protecting your account which include not sharing your password with anyone and keeping a close eye on the files you download.
"People need to get a life instead of making others more complicated" said Estridge. None of the friends or families contacted by Estridge's hacked email sent any money to the U.K. address.
