CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - A young woman who is from the Charlotte area and was chosen as the latest cover model for the long-running Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition spoke exclusively with WBTV Thursday morning.

Brooklyn Decker, who was announced as the new face of the magazine issue Monday night, gave about a 5 minute interview on Thursday morning to WBTV's Jason Holder via satellite.

Earlier this week, she appeared on the David Letterman Show. During the Tuesday appearance on Letterman, she talked about how she met her husband Andy Roddick -- and how she became a model, mentioning Charlotte during the TV appearance.

I "started (modeling) in Charlotte N.C. and got scouted and 5 years later I am on the cover – which is kind of crazy," Decker said, carefully inserting the state. (Click here to watch part of the Letterman interview.)

Decker, 22, is more precisely from Matthews. Decker often refers to Charlotte as where she is from and -- according to various web sites -- she was favored to land the cover spot this year.

The cover image, which was shown on the Letterman show, this year has Decker clad in part of a bright yellow swimsuit.

Entertainment Tonight reported that the 2010 issue will be hitting newsstands on Feb. 10, and that it will also launch online and on iPhones this year.

Decker also told Letterman that she will travel with all the swimsuit models to Las Vegas for a party Wednesday night.

Decker has had massive support among web fans, who were lobbying for her to be placed on the cover of the publication that has been doing a special swimsuit issue for more than 45 years. She also has a Twitter page that has nearly 20,000 followers: http://twitter.com/BrooklynDDecker
