CONWAY, SC (WMBF) - Officers with the Conway Police Department are searching for a man who is wanted for questioning in connection to the robbery of a Conway pharmacy on Sunday.

Department spokeswoman Catina Hipp says police officers were dispatched to a Walgreen's pharmacy, located at 1601 Church St., on Sunday around 10:30 p.m. in reference to an armed robbery. An employee told police a white male entered the store, proceeded to the pharmacy and requested Ocycodone. When the clerk asked for a prescription, the suspect pulled up his shirt and revealed a hand gun.

An employee told police the suspect fled the scene with two bottles of Oxycodone. The suspect, described as a white male, left the store in a green mustang in an unknown direction.

On February 3, the CVS in Murrells Inlet was also robbed for the powerful painkillers. The Georgetown County Sheriff's Office says they're unsure whether the two cases are linked, but one local pharmacist isn't taking any chances.

"Sometimes these people are really desperate and will do anything to get it," said Ron Mason, who co-owns the Northside Pharmacy in Myrtle Beach.

Mason says his business has been robbed before at gunpoint, for the same drugs, and that's why he has multiple safety measures in place, like video cameras, and motion sensors.

"I see security when I go in, so I know that they have got security," said longtime customer Myrtice Williams.

She says she's never felt threatened while in a pharmacy, but is worried that there is at least one person on the loose that is robbing these businesses by gunpoint.

However, Mason says his priority is keeping his customers happy and safe.

"A lot of our customers have been shopping here [for 50 years]," he explained.

Anyone with information on the suspect's whereabouts or Sunday's armed robbery is asked to call the Conway Police Department immediately.
