CONWAY, SC (WMBF) - Officers with the Horry County Police Department are on the hunt for a man they say robbed a Sketcher's store at the Tanger Outlets on US-501.

Reports reveal the robber entered the store around 7 p.m. Thursday wearing a black ski mask and bearing a gun. Officers say two employees who were working at the time were tied up with duct tape.

The incident reminded Donna Buchan of a time she watched a man rob a toy store.

"I hid as best I could in the back of the store," said Buchan.

Officers recommend the same exact actions should you be put in a similar situation.  Attempting to be a hero by taking a shot at disarming a robber could get you injured - or even killed.

Horry County investigators say around the holidays, the chance of someone walking inside a retail store with a gun increases by 30 percent.

Wednesday investigators say someone walked into the Carolina Title Loan on Kings Highway with a gun and took off with money there too.

"I think it's pretty scary. I think that is very scary," said Buchan.
