FLORENCE, SC  (WMBF) – Monster.com has opened a new facility in Florence, bringing with it hundreds of new jobs.

The company announced in 2008 it would locate a customer service call center in Florence County and has been open for a year.  On Wednesday, the company opened its new 75,000 square foot call center in Florence with a handful of local and state leaders on hand for the celebration.

Included in the group was South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford, who proclaimed the company's addition was a "monster deal" for Florence County.

"This really represents a monster of a job announcement in the area and monster investment, when you think about 350 jobs or overtime 750 jobs, that is a monstrous announcement for the Pee Dee area of South Carolina,"  said Sanford

Currently, Monster.com employees 150 people and hopes to have more than 300 people working at its Florence facility.

"The economy is down, our revenues are down 42 percent in the past year, but still we're making these types of investments. We expect when the economy turns around we'll continue to grow again," said Arthur O'Donnell with Monster.com.  "We have been very successful in meeting all our goals. We've received hundreds of letters of compliments on the great work our agents are doing in helping them find work. "

Monster.com says it chose to locate itself in Florence because of the available workers, educational system and the quality of life.  Florence was chosen out of 3,500 other possible locations in the United States.

Monster helps match employers with potential employees.

The new call center is located in the Pee Dee Touchstone Energy Commerce City off Interstate 95 at Highway 327.
