Michael D. Green, 38, of Myrtle Beach, was charged with trespassing and jailed around 8 p.m. Officers were called to the Broadway at the Beach Security Office at 1320 Celebrity Circle. A security officer at the scene said Green was trying to enter the Crocodile Rocks, where McBride was holding a private campaign party.
The owner told Green that he needed to leave and an altercation occurred in front of the bar, according to the report. The security officer said he told Green to leave several times, and Green refused and tried to walk away him. The officer told Green he was trespassing and Green still refused to leave.
The report says Green was arrested, charged and transported to the jail, where he told police he works for a Columbia, SC-based political firm that pays him to cause problems for McBride's campaign.
Mayor John Rhodes said on Tuesday that Green does not, nor has he ever, worked for his campaign.
