ATLANTA (AP) - Gov. Sonny Perdue says he's recommending a former official of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to head the state's Environmental Protection Division.
Perdue said on Monday he's recommending F. Allen Barnes, a partner in King & Spalding's environmental practice, to be director of the division.
Barnes served as regional chief of staff for the EPA from 2002 to 2005.
If approved on Wednesday by the Board of Natural Resources, Barnes will replace Carol Couch, who recently accepted a faculty position at the University of Georgia's College of Environment and Design.
