
Megan McCauley (Source: Myrtle Beach Police Department)MYRLTE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - A 20-year-old has been charged with shoplifting after attempting to steal a "sexy police officer" costume from the Coastal Grand Mall.
According to officers with the Myrtle Beach Police Department, an employee at Spencer's Gifts observed the package to the Halloween costume laying inside a changing room after a customer tried it on. The costume, nowhere to be found, was later found by police inside of the purse of Megan McCauley, 20, of Conway.
McCauley was caught by security officers at Coastal Grand after attempting to leave the mall with the stolen costume in her purse. A second person with McCauley at the time denied involvement in the shoplifting.
McCauley, police say, has no prior shoplifting convictions.
