Posted: Updated:

FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) - The fall fruit and vegetable season has kicked into full gear, and now the Pee Dee State Farmers Market is celebrating local produce at the 2009 Fall Plant and Flower Festival.

The three-day festival, running from Oct. 2-4, has become an annual event in the Pee Dee that offers plants and flowers to spruce up any yard or garden. An assortment of pumpkins, mums and yard art will be available.

"If you're an experienced gardener or just getting started, you'll find just what you are looking for," said Hugh Weathers, South Carolina Commissioner of Agriculture.

The Pee Dee Plant and Flower Festival will be held from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, and from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday on West Lucas Street in Florence.  Parking and admission are free.

Visitors are welcomed to bring along a cart or wagon to carry their purchases.

For more information, contact the Pee Dee Farmers Market at (843) 665-5154.
