Geathers will miss Thursday night's against North Carolina State at Raleigh, N.C. He will be eligible for the Georgia game on Sept. 12.
Geathers was arrested Aug. 23 after a fight at a nightclub. He was charged with drunkenness, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest by Columbia police. He is scheduled to appear in court on Friday.
Athletic spokesman Steve Fink said Wednesday that Geathers was given medical approval for injuries suffered in the fight. He received a 1-game suspension by the school effective once the 6-foot-8, 281-pound junior was healthy enough to play.
Fink said Geathers did not travel with the team, but could practice with the Gamecocks on Saturday.
