Gueka, who has been walking since July 15, passed through Florence and Dillon counties over the weekend on his 1,000 mile trek to the White House. He is scheduled to arrive in Washington next Wednesday and will make presentations in front of the White House and U.S. Department of Education.
For the past 10 years, Geuka's Joseph Littles-NGUZO SABA Charter School has taught hundreds of children through a program consisting of "strong academics, high expectations, and character building skills that are based on African tradition and culture."
Students are encouraged to utilize seven core African principles, which are unity, self-determination, collective work and responsibility, cooperative economics, purpose, creativity, and faith.
Class sizes range between 18 to 20 students and one-on-one attention is heavily emphasized.
Geuka hopes to generate donations through his journey so the school may become financially self-sufficient.
