COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Members of the South Carolina football team will hang up their pads and cleats for a day and head for the library.
The Gamecocks appear on Friday at the Richland County Public Library's main branch on Friday morning for Pigskin Poets. The group will sign autographs, interact with the crowd and read several stories to the young fans in attendance.
The library trip is a yearly outreach for South Carolina's football players. It comes just before the Gamecocks return to the practice field. The team begins fall practice on Aug. 4, a month before the Sept. 3 season opener at North Carolina State.
