Man stabbed at Myrtle Beach library over bicycle

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - A 25-year-old Irmo man was taken to an area hospital after he was stabbed at an area library Thursday afternoon.

According to a police incident report, the victim was at the Chapin Memorial Library, 1410 N. Kings Highway, around 1:40 p.m. The victim told investigators he and Herman Claxton Powell III (aka "Dread") had argued over a bike, and that Powell stabbed him at least once in the right side of his chest.

Powell was apprehended on 16th Avenue North and arrested on charges of assault and battery with intent to kill. He was transported to the J. Reuben Long Detention Center.
