BENNETTSVILLE, SC (WMBF) - A 4-year-old boy and a 6-year-old girl are recovering after being burnt by fireworks over the Fourth of July weekend.
According to the children's great-grandmother, Carolyn Eppolito, the children were on the front porch on Thursday evening watching their father shoot fireworks in the street. When the father lit one of the fireworks, it tilted towards the porch and burned the two children.
The incident happened on Highway 9 outside of Bennettsville in Marlboro County.
Both children, Eppolito says, were taken to the Augusta Burn Center. The 6-year-old girl, she says, was burnt the worst.
Eppolito tells WMBF News the two children are at home and are recovering.
