Plastic bag ban in North Myrtle Beach passes, goes into effect January 2021

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – Single-use plastic bags won’t be allowed in North Myrtle Beach starting January 2021.

North Myrtle Beach city leaders passed the second and final reading Monday night for a proposal that bans single-use, carry-out plastic bags.

The goal is to prevent more plastic from polluting the environment and keeps beaches clean.

Businesses in North Myrtle Beach now have two years switch over to an alternative bag option.
