WMBF News reached out to the Secret Service after multiple tips came into our newsroom that people saw money at the scene.

The Secret Service said it could not confirm anything more about the discovery.

Troopers said a Chevrolet Corvette was driving too fast for conditions while driving on Highway 501 and exiting onto George Bishop Parkway.

When the Corvette got to the end of the ramp, the driver proceeded through the end of the ramp, drove over a curb and hit a Toyota minivan, according to troopers.

The driver of the Corvette was thrown from the vehicle, officials say. The driver died as a result of the crash.

Horry County Coroner Robert Edge identified the driver as 24-year-old Thaddeus Leshawn Hess.

The driver of the Toyota minivan was taken to the hospital. Their condition has not been released.
