LUMBERTON, NC (WMBF) – A 74-year-old man died Friday from injuries he sustained during a house fire earlier this week.
According to a press release from the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office, first responders went to the 400 block of Ira Road in Lumberton in the early-morning hours of Feb. 6 after calls came in about a structure fire.
A neighbor saw the fire and was able to rescue a couple from the burning home. On Friday, Larry Locklear succumbed to his injuries, the release stated.
According to authorities, the other person rescued from the home remains in critical condition at an undisclosed hospital.
The neighbor was treated for injuries he sustained. Robeson County authorities said he “exemplified his bravery” during the rescue.
