MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Today will bring the last day of spring-like warmth before a strong cold front ushers in a return to winter by the weekend.
Temperatures will once again soar today and reach well into the 70s by the afternoon. Inland temperatures will climb into the upper 70s to near 80 while the Grand Strand sees afternoon readings in the lower to middle 70s.
A strong cold front will pass through the region overnight and allow much cooler weather to start to filter in.
Temperatures will drop quickly by late tonight and end up in the upper 30s to lower 40s by daybreak Saturday. As the cooler weather continues to blow in, Saturday afternoon temperatures will only reach the upper 40s to near 50.
Saturday night will see the core of the colder weather settle in with temperatures dropping to near freezing well inland and the middle 30s on the coast.
By Sunday, temperatures will moderate a bit with afternoon highs in the lower and middle 50s as skies turn mostly cloudy.
Early next week will feature another round of mild weather but also clouds and the risk of some light rain at times. Temperatures will climb back into the 60s by Monday and briefly return to the 70s on Tuesday with cloudy skies.
