ROBESON COUNTY, NC (WMBF) – A middle school in Maxton was placed on lockdown just before 12 p.m. Thursday after a call came in of a suspended 14-year-old student on or near the campus with a pellet gun, according to the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office.
The emergency call came in from Townsend Middle School and it was immediately locked down, a press release stated. Law enforcement officers with the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office and the Maxton Police Department responded. The lockdown was lifted around 1:40 p.m.
The incident remains under investigation by the RCSO’s juvenile division.
