ROBESON COUNTY, NC (WMBF) – A dispute between brothers ended violently Monday afternoon after one reportedly stabbed the other, according to the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office.
Shortly after 12 p.m. Monday, RCSO deputies were called to the 300 block of Lumbee Avenue in the Lumberton area for the dispute, a press release stated.
While heading to the scene, deputies were told that one of the brothers had been stabbed. By the time they arrived, the victim was found in the road bleeding from a number of stab wounds, according to the release.
He added the victim was taken to an area hospital for treatment. The man’s condition is listed as critical.
The suspect was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and inflicting serious injury. He was placed in the Robeson County Detention Center under a $50,000 secured bond.
According to the RCSO, the dispute started over the use of the mother’s vehicle. WMBF News is not naming the suspect in an effort to protect the victim’s identity.
