Horry County teacher behind bars for alleged indecent exposure

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - An Horry County school teacher is facing charges for indecent exposure. A judge set bond for 34-year-old Kevin Ferry at $10,000.

According to police reports, Ferry was riding in an Uber near Palmetto Pointe Boulevard when he allegedly exposed himself to the female Uber driver and grabbed her arm. The report states that the victim is pursuing criminal charges.

During the bond hear Friday, the victim said she picked up Ferry and his wife from a Christmas party. When his wife fell asleep in the back seat, that’s when the victim alleges Ferry exposed himself.

“All the while I told him to stop and cried. The only reason I didn’t throw him out was because his wife was asleep in my back seat. When I dropped them off he ran back to my car and threw $20 at me," said the victim.

Ferry is a science teacher at Saint James High School, according to Horry County Spokesperson Lisa Bourcier. He’s been with the school district since August 2017. Bourcier said he was placed on paid administrative leave Friday morning.

“He’s lived here almost 12-years. Know he has roots in the community. He wants to defend himself for the charges against him," said Ferry’s attorney Stuart Axelrod.

Ferry turned himself into police just after 8 a.m. Friday. According to the Horry County Sherif’s Office. Along with $10,000 bond Ferry is ordered not to have contact with the victim.
