Bennettsville police arrest man for allegedly breaking into 14 cars, taking valuable items

BENNETTSVILLE, SC (WMBF) - The Bennettsville Police Department has arrested a man on charges in connection with 14 vehicle break-ins, according to a press release.

The release says Yuqwan Demeak Weathers has been charged with fourteen counts of theft from a motor vehicle.

BPD said the break-ins happened between December 8, 2018, and January 21, 2019, when Weathers unlawfully entered fourteen vehicles in various neighborhoods throughout the city of Bennettsville.

Weathers took items ranging from handguns, jewelry, clothing, money, cell phones and other belongings of value.

Investigators executed a search warrant at Weathers’ home in Bennettsville and were able to recover several pieces of stolen items.

BPD is asking for any individuals who may have purchased items from Weathers to contact the police department at (843) 479-3620 or 911 to verify these items were not taken from any of the break-ins.

BPD continues to strongly advise citizens to stay in practice of keeping your vehicle doors locked and items of value secured.
