Harvest Hope pantry for federal employees

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – Members of the Grand Strand and Pee Dee communities are coming together to support federal employees during the on-going government shutdown.

On Wednesday, several veterans groups, along with others, will present checks to the local Coast Guard community.

According to information sent to WMBF News, the presentation will be at the Coast Guard station in Georgetown on Marina Drive behind the Hampton Inn.

Additionally, members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10804 are collecting $10 Food Lion gift cards through Friday night.

They will be delivered to the 34 families at the Coast Guard station in Georgetown on Saturday afternoon, according to information from the post.

Those who would like to donate can drop the gift cards off at the post, located at 111 Hwy. 57 North in Little River. It opens daily at 12 p.m.

In the Pee Dee, the Harvest Hope Food Bank is hosting a free pantry for federal employees impacted by the partial government shutdown.

Employees can bring their federal ID to the Hampton Inn and Suites at Highway 52 and Interstate 95 in Florence from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, and again from 4 to 6 p.m.

Food, water, baby items, and other essentials will be made available.
