Florence Police: Driver cited after single-vehicle crash causes brief power outage

FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) – Police say a driver was cited after crashing into a utility pole Thursday morning, causing a brief power outage.

At about 8:00 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 200 block of North Beltline Drive in reference to a single-vehicle collision, according to a news release from the Florence Police Department. Police say the vehicle left the roadway and collided with the utility pole.

According to the release, the utility pole sustained significant damage, causing a brief power outage. Traffic also had to be rerouted because of downed utility lines.

The driver of the vehicle was cited for careless operation, the release states.

No one was injured in the incident. At the time of this report, crews are working to replace the damaged utility pole.
