Dabo, Saban show respect for one another ahead of title game

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - Ahead coaches Dabo Swinney and Nick Saban spent part of Sunday morning talking to reporters in a joint press conference.

Swinney and Saban have spent a lot of time together over the past few years. This is the fourth consecutive season they'll meet in the playoffs.

They also hung out together a little during the off-season.

They were asked Sunday what's something they've learned from one another and implemented into their program.

"Well, I have a tremendous amount of respect for what and how they do things at Clemson," said Alabama head coach Nick Saban. "They do a great job of recruiting. They do a great job of developing their players, and likewise, that's what we try to do in our program in terms of we want to help guys be more successful in life because they were involved in the program."

"One, how he has just been himself, regardless of what people think or say or whatever," Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney said. "He's been himself, and he's stuck to the things that he believes in, and that's a lesson for me, to be myself and to be convicted in my beliefs and how I think that I should run the program."

The pair also answered questions on if their team’s dominance over the last few years is good for college football. See what they had to say in the video here.

While Dabo and Saban were cordial Sunday, Monday night for three and a half hours they will not be buddy-buddy as they battle for the national championship.

Kickoff for the game is 8 p.m. on ESPN.
