MARION COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – A man wanted for attempted murder was taken into custody Wednesday following a chase that led to a crash in Marion County.
According to Marion County Sheriff Brian Wallace, a deputy came into contact with Mychal Legette, who was wanted for attempted murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime in reference to an incident on Bill Gause Road in Mullins.
The suspect reportedly refused to comply with the deputy’s commands to stop and left the scene in a vehicle, Wallace said.
After a short pursuit, the suspect’s car collided with another vehicle on Old Nichols Highway, according to the sheriff. He added Legette tried to get away on foot, but was taken into custody.
The crash is being investigated by the South Carolina Highway Patrol. Information on their website states the collision involves injuries.
