PEMBROKE, NC (WMBF) - Two men have been arrested and charged with murder Sunday in connection to a body found in a heavily wooded area in Pembroke on December 20.
32-year-old John Edward Jacobs of Pembroke has been charged with murder and rape in connection to the crime. Jacobs is being held without bond.
29-year-old Daniel Damien Brooks, also of Pembroke, has been charged with failure to notify of a death and accessory to a first degree murder. Brooks is being held on $500,000 bond.
Authorities say 46-year-old Katina Locklear was found with obvious signs of injury Thursday, 100 yards from the intersection of Seventh Street and Main Street in Pembroke. According to Sgt. Det. Locklear crime scene assessment as well as witness interviews led authorities to the suspects.
The men are being held in Robeson County Detention Center. Anyone with any information about the crime is being asked to contact police.
