CONWAY, SC (WMBF) – These Conway firefighters’ heroism and generosity is being rewarded.

According to a post on the Conway Fire Department’s Facebook page, crews were called to a home last month after a child became stuck in a washing machine.

Firefighters had to use extrication cutters to cut the tub of the machine and free the child, who made it through the ordeal without injury.

Days later, those same firefighters used their own money to buy the family a new washing machine, the post stated.

Those seven officers were recognized as Officer and Firefighters of the Quarter.
