Authorities investigate suspicious fire at Myrtle Beach apartment

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Officials are investigating a suspicious fire at an apartment in Myrtle Beach.

The fire broke out Monday at 4745 Wild Iris Drive, according to a tweet from the Myrtle Beach Fire Department. All residents were evacuated. Shortly before 6 p.m., the fire was deemed under control.

A captain with Myrtle Beach Fire told police the blaze appeared suspicious based on the lack of food in the kitchen, nothing in the bathroom and a sheet “strewn in an unusual way” on a bed, a Myrtle Beach Police Department incident report states.

There were no immediate reports of injuries.
