FIRST ALERT: Sunny skies and drier weather kick off the new week

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Dry weather and sunny skies return today and last through the first half of the new work week.

Sunny skies return today along with mild temperatures allowing a nice chance to dry out after the recent rain. Temperatures this afternoon will climb to around 60.

The work week starts off with plenty of sunshine on Monday. Early morning temperatures in the lower and middle 40s will climb to near 60 by the afternoon.

A shot of cooler weather arrives for Tuesday and Wednesday with afternoon temperatures dropping into the lower and middle 50s. Overnight temperatures drop into the 30s to near 40. Skies will remain mostly clear through Wednesday.

Our next storm system is on tap for Thursday and Friday and looks to deliver the risk of another round of heavy rain. While the rain will likely not be as heavy as the last system, one to two inches of rain look likely from Thursday through early Friday. Once again, the rain-maker will also deliver milder weather with temperatures returning to the 60s on Thursday.
