MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - According to South Carolina Highway Patrol, one person was killed in a two car accident near Briarcliffe Acres Friday morning.
The accident occurred at 9:41 a.m. on US-17 at Middle Gate Drive, according to Lcpl. Matt Southern with highway patrol.
Investigators say a Toyota Avalon was exiting Briarcliffe Acres at Middle Gate Drive when man from North Myrtle Beach driving north bound in a dodge pickup drove through a traffic light on Highway 17 striking the driver-side door of the Avalon.
The person driving the Avalon was taken to Grand Strand Medical Center where they died, according to Lcpl. Southern.
Highway Patrol says both drivers were wearing seat belts and the accident remains under investigation.
