Police: Suspect charged following carjacking, multi-vehicle crash

Attempted carjacking leads to car crash

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - A man is in custody following a reported carjacking that resulted in a multi-vehicle crash Wednesday at Mr. Joe White Avenue and U.S. Highway 17 Bypass, the Myrtle Beach Police Department said.

According to Cpl. Thomas Vest with Myrtle Beach police, 26-year-old Anthony Gamble was arrested in connection to the incident. Jail records show he is charged with two-counts of hit-and-run, reckless driving, carjacking, driving under suspension and resisting arrest.

The crash happened around 3:15 p.m. Wednesday. At the time of the incident, police said they apprehended a person after a brief foot pursuit.

Gamble is currently being held at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center.
