DARLINGTON COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - A mother is outraged after she discovered a registered sex offender working at a ranch around children, and she claims it was her daughter the man molested.
Stephanie Morton says Saturday her family, including her four daughters, decided to volunteer at a ranch in Darlington County.
She says her daughter who was allegedly molested by a man when she was 5-years-old,spotted her offender that Morton says was convicted in 2012 and is registered as a tier 2 sex offender.
However, according to state law, there are no restrictions on where a sex offender can work, only where they can live.
She says the farm’s owners are aware that the man is a registered sex offender and did nothing about it, allowing him to give pony rides to children during a birthday party that was being held.
But for her family, Morton says it brings up traumatic moments her child has to relive all over again.
“Having to come in contact, face to face with a man that molested them, I mean, as a mother I didn’t sleep for a long time... it was the hardest thing in my life," said Morton.
