Myrtle Beach city employee killed following crash between moped, backhoe

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - A Myrtle Beach man died Tuesday morning as the result of a collision between his moped and a backhoe.

According to information from Horry County Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard, the crash happened at 3127 Mr. Joe White Ave shortly before 6:30 a.m.

The moped driver, Timothy Taylor, died as a result of his injuries at Grand Strand Medical Center at 8:44 a.m., according to Willard.

Information on Myrtle Beach’s Facebook page states Taylor had been a city employee for 10 years. He was on his way to work for the solid waste division when the crash occurred.

“Tim’s passing has deeply affected us all,” public works director Janet Curry said. “Our team continues to support Tim’s family though our prayers and our presence.”

The city canceled its solid waste service on Tuesday.
