MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Brookgreen Gardens has closed it’s gates until further notice due to the increased threat of flooding, according to a press release.
Due to the ongoing river flooding and concern for our guests' safety, beginning Tuesday, September 25, Brookgreen Gardens will be closed to the public until further notice. Staff will be making daily assessments as circumstances continue to change and we will re-open the Gardens as soon as it is safe to do so. All affected animals in our Lowcountry Zoo have been relocated out of flooded areas and zookeepers will continue to monitor the entire zoo to determine if there is a need for further measures to be taken. The Brew at the Zoo event scheduled for September 29, will be postponed until November 3.
